In exploring the level that exists just below that of our conscious awareness, we come to the subconscious mind. It is the part of our mind that records everything we do—every activity we engage in, every thought we have about those activities, and the likes and dislikes we encounter each day. It is the part of our minds we are familiar with when we sleep, dream, and behave according to beliefs of which we are not aware.
Although nothing is forgotten by the subconscious mind, this part of our consciousness remains hidden from our everyday awareness. However, that does not exclude it from having influence over how we think and act in our conscious state. In other words, the subconscious influences much of what we do each day, but those influences are from past actions and the habits we have created from them. This means the ideas drawn from the subconscious are not going to be new and creative.
It is our subconscious mind that provides meaning to all our interactions with the world—meaning as it is filtered through your beliefs and habits. It communicates information through our feelings, emotions, imagination, sensations, and dreams. Our current understanding of consciousness is rigid and neglects to give recognition to the conscious experiences outside the definition of normal. Such experiences are considered fake, abnormal, or unnatural. Normal consciousness is earthbound and is only normal in the sense that is it well known; you are aware of something on the outside as well as some specific mental functions happening on the inside.
It is important to know that our subconscious mind can’t move outside its fixed programs – it reacts automatically to situations using previously stored behavior responses. It works without the knowledge or control of the conscious mind. This is why we are often unaware of our behavior.
Studies from as far back as the seventies show that our brains begin to prepare for action just over a third of a second before, we consciously decide to act. In other words, even when we ‘think’ we are conscious, it’s our sub-conscious mind that is actually making decisions for us.

Access your Subconscious Mind: Two Go-Tos
1. Relax. Catch yourself and relax! The ability to relax is the bridge to connecting with the subconscious. In a quiet comfortable seated position, with your hands facing upward, close your eyes and center in the present moment.
2. Breathe. Listen to your breath – the inhale and exhale. Breathe in slowly and exhale slowly. Listen to the sound of your heart and feel the feel the sensations in your body from the ripple effect of the rhythm of your breath. The more you listen and focus on the breath, the deeper you’ll connect with your subconscious and release all thought.
The more you’re aware of relaxing and breathing moment by moment in your day, you’ll have clear access to your subconscious.
Manifest Your Desire Now With Your Subconscious Mind
Setting an Intention
Your subconscious mind is fueled by your thoughts that are expressed with intention! With Intention at the helm, your subconscious mind will do what it takes to achieve the set intention. It would also open all available channels to the conscious mind for information on how to do that.
Think of the athlete for a moment. They excel at their sport because they have set an intention to win! To be the first to cross the finish line. It is their dominant desire and they let nothing stand in their way, creating a life, schedule, belief system that allow for this goal to materialize.
How can you harness the power of intention?
1. Set a goal and define it clearly. Be specific! Say it out loud. Talk about it. Write it down. Make it achievable and realistic. Feel it like it were here now.
2. Celebrate the small wins along the way! Establish small achievements that are leading you to the bigger goal. For example, if you want to train for and run a 10k, start each day by reflecting on your progress so far. Put a picture on your desk of someone who has successfully run this event and look at it every day.
3. Determine what motivates you. Find what energizes you to work on your goal and do that! Is it a positive person? Music? Watching a motivational video? Your subconscious soaks this in! So, fuel it.
The Power of Visualizing
This goal you seek comes to pass through the power of ability to see it as such – visualize it. When you visualize you are having a deep-seated faith in the outcome. Meaning, you believe with all that you are that it will be true, no exceptions. Your task is to visualize your life with your intention or desire already fulfilled. Each day go to the space of relaxing and listening to your breath and fully imagine your life after you have achieved your goal.
Make it as vivid as possible: What are you wearing? How do you act? How are you feeling? What are you saying? What are you doing?
Don’t forget to take action steps to literally physically prepare for your goal to arrive. Meaning, if you want to move to your dream home soon, then start organizing and packing items in your home now! If you want the love of your life to appear and have a romantic relationship, then buy an extra toothbrush and put it in your bathroom!

Disengage from the Outcome
While you have set a goal, don’t fixate on it. Be willing to be flexible and roll with changes that may occur. Yes, plan and expect and intend but stop short of plan ‘exactly’ how your desire will manifest. You have many pathways to the achieving of your goal. So, keep your mind to all the pathways to arrive at those things you are desiring.
Spotting the Magic in Life
Do you notice that once you truly decide to do something magic just seems to happen and the opportunities that allow you to do it just present themselves? Do you know why this happens? Well, it’s because you decided! Yes, you decided to think a thought and then you also decided to envelop it with belief! Then, voila! Like magic, you begin to get the information that you need to achieve it.
So, begin to spot the magic of an opportunity and don’t miss it! Being able to tune into opportunities like this as they present is you connecting with your subconscious mind as it tries to relay to you the power in the moment!
When you have set a goal, that is powered by intention and that you believe will come to pass then these opportunistic magic moments will become more and more apparent to you and with ease. Even with all the chaos of the world around you, you’ll see it.
Apply Your Favorite Mantra
Remember that the dominating thoughts that remain in the conscious mind (negative or positive) make their way to the subconscious mind and influence it. A thought dominates if a strong emotion (faith, fear, love and so on) empowers it.
One of the most powerful techniques is the mantra technique. The essence of that technique is to repeat in your mind (or aloud) a positive mantra that will help you overcome a difficulty or fear. The more you repeat it, the stronger you believe it in, the more faith you put into your words, the better the result.
Say It Out Loud!
We talked about setting an intention, visualizing it, writing down your goal, acting like it’s here now. In the spirit of reinforcing this into your subconscious, we want to say it out loud. As silly as this sounds, it’s a must-do. So, as you have written out your very specific goal, each day as you rest to sleep and even as you wake say your goals aloud. Stay consistent with this and be persistent!
Summing it Up
Learn to access the power of your subconscious.
In our day-to-day lives we’re in our conscious state of mind. We’re on auto pilot and can get caught up in the madness of the world. It’s in this space we disconnect with our subconscious and can become overwhelmed with emotions, doubts, fears, to-dos of life.
Many of us have learned or read that in this conscious state we’re only using about 5 percent of our brain’s full ability. If this is the case, we’re not living our lives to our fullest potential. That other 95 percent is found in our powerful subconscious, where magic and imagination happen! Use the techniques you’ve learned today and with ease you’ll reprogram your thoughts and beliefs to the extent you can tap into our authentic self anytime you like!
Our sub-conscious mind plays such an important role in our lives and also when it comes to our intuition! Remember, your subconscious runs everything in your life! Learning how to stimulate the communication between the conscious and the subconscious minds is a powerful tool on the way to a deeply fulfilled life.
